What It Treats
Tretinoin is a topical vitamin A derivative that accelerates cell turnover, boosts collagen production, and unclogs pores. It is one of the most studied skincare prescriptions available, used for decades by dermatologists for both anti-aging and acne.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles. Stimulates collagen synthesis to soften lines around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Most patients see improvement by week 12.
Acne & Breakouts. Prevents pore clogging, reduces inflammation, and clears existing acne. Effective for both hormonal and comedonal acne.
Uneven Skin Tone. Fades dark spots, post-acne marks, and hyperpigmentation through accelerated cell turnover.
Rough Texture. Smooths surface texture, minimizes pore appearance, and restores a refined skin feel.
Tretinoin 0.025% with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Best for first-time retinoid users and reactive skin types. Gentler introduction with less purging.
Tretinoin 0.05% for patients with established retinoid tolerance seeking moderate anti-aging and acne results. Our most commonly prescribed strength.
Tretinoin 0.1% is the highest-strength topical option. For experienced retinoid users seeking maximum anti-aging effects. Requires tolerance first.
Formulated with adjusted concentrations appropriate for the more delicate skin of the neck and chest. Addresses crepey texture and sun damage in these often-neglected areas.
Answer secure health questionnaire covering skin history, current routine, and medical history. Takes 5–10 minutes.
A licensed clinician reviews your request, typically within 1–2 business days. If anything needs clarification, we reach out via secure messaging.
If approved, your prescription is sent to the compounding pharmacy. You pay the pharmacy directly for the medication, separate from our $50 service fee.
Tretinoin works at the cellular level. Meaningful visible improvement typically emerges between 8 and 12 weeks with consistent nightly use. Most prescriptions include refills to cover 9–12 months of use before reassessment.
Initial side effects are common and normal: redness, dryness, mild peeling, and occasional purging typically resolve within 4–6 weeks as your skin adjusts. Gradual introduction (2–3 nights per week initially) reduces irritation dramatically.
Daily SPF is non-negotiable. Tretinoin increases photosensitivity. Without consistent sunscreen use, you will undo the work tretinoin is doing. We discuss this during intake.
Apply pea-sized amount to clean, dry face after cleansing. Introduce slowly to reduce irritation.
SPF 30+ every morning is mandatory. Tretinoin makes skin more photosensitive.
Avoid other active exfoliants (AHAs, BHAs, strong vitamin C) while adjusting to tretinoin.
Tretinoin is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Please disclose in intake.
Our tretinoin formulations are custom-compounded by a licensed compounding pharmacy based on individual prescriptions and clinical judgment. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as commercial products.
Tretinoin is contraindicated during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and while planning pregnancy. We do not prescribe to patients under 18. If you have eczema, rosacea, or a history of retinoid hypersensitivity, please disclose this during intake.
